Saw this and wondered what you guys opinions on this is, I think if it’s good for and what’s best for the players and safety it should be implemented, they can afford it

I’ve bitched about this for years. Even on the RX I’ve brought up this subject. It should absolutely be done. I don’t even think the vast majority of higher level HS kids no what grass is or have any idea what that slight mound is on a football field is. All these more elite HS have turf now. College is littered with it.

University of Shit ass Texas and all that money have been playing on Turf for baseball and football for 40 years.

Norte Dame had the thickest fescue like grass I ever saw on a field. Not the short short Bermuda. But deep thick grass like a bluegrass fescue.

College and NFL all went to this turf for money and maintenance. It’s trash! It makes the field temperature 15 degrees hotter on hot days. It’s harder. It’s faster. It’s more injury prone.

The feel and smell of grass fields are special, especially in football. Every jersey needs a few grass stains and dirt to help produce that great smell of sweat and funk of a locker room at 7am in the morning. Anyone who played football knows what I’m talking about.

Natural surface gives way a lot more, hence all the divots you see on a field

Players have a 28% higher rate of non-contact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf.

Of those non-contact injuries, players have a 32% higher rate of non-contact knee injuries on turf and a staggering 69% higher rate of non-contact foot/ankle injuries on turf compared to grass.

Yep, it cut down on maintenance costs and water usage which is big in some areas

Water usage I could see as an actual issue that needs to be addressed

BS

Anyone playing knows grass is better

If the players coaches agents are all saying it’s an issue then that tells you all you need to know.

Let some of the grandfather teams or true domes keep it if need be.

But
Car Cin NYJ NYG Sea Buf Ne need to be grass no questions

It’s too easy for them to do. It’s money that’s all. Cheap ass billionaires. Fake grass also allows them to use it for other stuff. If soccer wants to play build their own stadiums

Was anything better than old Veterans Stadium which looked like green concrete
It did have a cool look to it though
But playing on that must have been rough
I'm surprised that great 80s-90's Eagles defense didn't kill someone
